I'm flying Volaris from TJ to PV soon and just noticed the maximum sporting equipment length is 79 inches per their website. I have called and can't get a straight answer. Have you flown Volaris with rods in rod carrier longer than 79 inches...

At the CBX bridge entrance on the US side, Volaris airlines has a check in right there as you walk in. Nobody checks your rod tube. You just surrender it with your checked bag and you are on your way. Later in the airport , you walk throgh customs with your carry on stuff. There you are checked by customs.

What outfit are you fishing with? I think if they have similar gear then I would skip the hassle of bringing your own gear. We usually fly Volaris out of TJ and my buddy has brought reels everytime in his checked bag but never uses them.
