Shiva is a major Hindu god. He is the destroyer in the Trimurti, but for Shaiva devotees he is the supreme deity. He is worshipped in a variety of forms, both aniconic (as a lingam) and anthropomorphic (generally as an ascetic). He is associated closely with his wife Parvati, his sons Skanda and Ganesha, and his vehicle, the bull Nandi. His major holiday is Maha Shivaratri.
