I know Remo started making plastic drum heads in 1957, but when did they start to show up on drum sets made by Ludwig, Gretsch, Kent etc.... Just wondering, thanks Mouse.

Remo's collar is designed to require the seating process so many of us learned with those heads in order to fit onto most drums. The Evans Level 360 collar was a design change made to remove the need for seating and make it easier to tune while increasing the tuning range (which it delivered on).

Can anyone tell me the differences between the Remo Emperor's Coated, Vintage Coated, and Smooth White? I take it the Smooth White one is not double-coated. Also, would anyone know if one is louder than another?
