Vaikom Muhammad Basheer (21 January 1908 – 5 July 1994), popularly referred to as the Beypore Sultan, was an Indian writer of Malayalam literature, a humanist and a freedom fighter in the Indian national movement.
Basheer is a direct Quranic name for boys that means “bringer of good news”, “bringer of glad tidings”, and it is one of the words that the Quran uses to describe Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
