The plain of Panipat was the site of three decisive battles in Indian history in the 16th and 18th centuries. Panipat was constituted a municipality in 1867. Wool and cotton milling, saltpetre refining, and the manufacture of glass, electrical appliances, and bricks are the city’s chief industries.
District Panipat has a very glorious place in the history of India. It is said that, at the time of battle of Mahabharata, the five villages which were demanded by the Pandavas from Duryodhana, “Panipat” was also one of them. Later on it was christened as Panipat.
Known as the “City of Weavers” and the stage for three decisive battles that shaped Indian history, Panipat is a destination where every monument whispers tales of valor, and every street hums with the rhythm of tradition.
