Installing GarageBand for Older Mac (iMac mid-2011) I've seen a lot of posts with people having similar issues installing GarageBand on their older Macs. The current version of GarageBand will only reinstall loops and sound from GarageBand 10; most of the beautiful virtual instrument loops and sounds from the older versions are missing.
If you’ve “purchased” GarageBand a while back, check your previous purchases in the Mac App Store. If you’re trying to use this new, I’m not aware of a supported means to acquire GarageBand other than for a Mac running a current macOS.
