Piskor had risen to prominence after early collaborations with the underground comics artist Jay Lynch and writer Harvey Pekar, most notably as sole artist on Pekar’s 2007 book Macedonia: What Does It Take to Stop a War?

Piskor rose to fame because of Hip Hop Family Tree from Fantagraphics, a collection of oversized comics detailing the history of hip-hop from the 1970s onwards.

Piskor rose to popularity in the comics scene with his Eisner-Award winning series, Hip Hop Family Tree, which detailed the early history of hip hop, across four volumes published by Fantagraphics.
