The first task is to grasp the meaning of that Greek word, ecclesia, for many people quite misunderstand it, due to the Greek word having been translated “church”. The English word 'church' is neither a translation nor a transliteration. It falls well short of what the Greek word conveys, which is a word rooted in the verb kaleo, 'to call'.

For example, the word ecclesia is used in the NT in Matthew 16:18 and 18:17. If you check the LXX, you find the word ecclesia commonly translates qhl, which means "sacred assembly." And that means 2 things.
The purpose of the ecclesia (senate) as they are appointed by the caesar or king, called out from society for their talents, excellence of soul, and attitudes are deemed useful in service to the king. These are called out of their former society life into a focused, new life of service only to speak and represent their king.
It is Christ, risen from the dead, who has become chief corner stone in the house of God not made with hands, that is, the ecclesia of the living God. Once more, the meaning has nothing to do with a literal building made with literal stones, for it is all about the risen Christ, who builds his ecclesia (Church).
