The block diagram (page A-1) shows that "x8 slot 1" has eight lanes going to it, and "x8 slot 2" has four. The board illustration on page 2-3 shows that PCIe2 is the slot nearest the RAM DIMMs. Therefore the other PCIe slot, the one next to the PCI slots and farther from the CPU, is the one with 8 lanes.
Im trying to a block diagram with some blocks nested within a top level box, the lower level boxes need to have multiple connections between them but Visio's auto connection feature is hindering th...
For Visio 2007, Use tree shapes to represent hierarchical stages in a tree diagram: From Blocks, drag a tree shape onto the drawing page. a.If you want two branches, use a Double-tree shape. b.If you want two or more branches, use a Multi-tree shape. 2.Drag the endpoints on the tree shapes to connection points on block shapes. Page 1-6 of the manual states "The system maps the total size of the lower-sized channel for the dual-channel configuration. Any excess memory from the higher-sized channel is then mapped for single-channel operation." That indicates the memory controller manages everything. Also, page 117 shows the block diagram which confirms using 1A and 1B populate one DDR channel each per DIMM.
