Liguria (/ lɪˈɡjʊəriə / lig-YOOR-ee-ə, Italian: [liˈɡuːrja]; Ligurian: Ligûria [liˈɡyːɾja]) is a region of north-western Italy; its capital is Genoa. Its territory is crossed by the Alps and the Apennines mountain range and is roughly coextensive with the former territory of the Republic of Genoa.

Liguria is the region of north-west Italy that follows the Mediterranean coast, from the border with the Cote d'Azur in France in the west to the border with Tuscany to the east, and for about 25 kilometres inland from the Mediterranean.
