Dobutamine Calculation 1

Dobutamine is a medication that treats heart failure by strengthening your heart muscle. Heart failure happens when your heart isn’t pumping very well.

Dobutamine is a medication used in the treatment of cardiogenic shock (as a result of inadequate tissue perfusion) and severe heart failure. [2][3] It may also be used in certain types of cardiac stress tests. [2]

Dobutamine is a direct-acting inotropic agent whose primary activity results from stimulation of the beta-adrenoceptors of the heart while producing comparatively mild chronotropic, hypertensive, arrhythmogenic, and vasodilative effects. Dobutamine acts primarily on beta-1 adrenergic receptors, with negligible effects on beta-2 or alpha receptors.

Dobutamine is used to make your heart muscles beat stronger and work better to pump blood throughout your body. Dobutamine is in a class of medications called selective β 1 -adrenergic agonists. It works by stimulating the heart muscles to improve the pumping action of the heart.
