I'm looking, and it looks like the back of the Cummins 6B series uses a bolt-on adapter to provide a bellhousing pattern. I found a picture of this adapter with an SAE round pattern. The engine, it looks like, has a trapezoidal pattern that accomodates the bellhousing adapter.
