The hypotenuses of both triangles must be congruent. The hypotenuse is the side opposite the right angle, and it’s always the longest side in a right triangle. One pair of corresponding legs of the triangles must be congruent. A leg is one of the two sides that form the right angle.
Step 4: If the hypotenuse of each triangle and their corresponding legs are equal in length, state the triangles to be congruent.
Two right triangles are congruent if the hypotenuse and a leg of one triangle are respectively equal to the hypotenuse and a leg of the other triangle (Hyp-Leg = Hyp-Leg)

The hypotenuse leg theorem states that any two right triangles that have a congruent hypotenuse and a corresponding, congruent leg are congruent triangles. The following proof simply shows that it does not matter which of the two (corresponding) legs in the two right triangles are congruent.
