I save all my contacts info, including birthdays, to my Gmail account, and use the Samsung Calendar App on my Samsung S23. Of course the Gmail account and the "Contacts important dates" are enabled in the Samsung Calendar app.

In-app reminders automatically display for birthdays and anniversaries. In addition to these in-app reminders, you can add optional notifications. If you turn off notifications for birthdays or anniversaries, in-app reminders will still display. In-app reminders won’t automatically display for custom significant dates.
