The storyline of Astrid is based on the novel “Les enquêtes d’Astrid et Raphaëlle” by Sophie Bassignac and Marie Deshaires, who also created the show. The show follows the unlikely partnership between Raphaëlle and Astrid, who work together to solve crimes in Paris.
Astrid and Raphaelle are drawn into espionage between France and the US. A poisoned-dart killing leads Astrid and Raphaelle into a dangerous state conspiracy. Raphaelle finds herself in hot water after she is connected to a murder. An impossible crime unearths a devastating family secret.
The character of Astrid is beautifully brought to life by Sara Mortensen. Astrid is sheltered, tender, and earnest. You can’t help but love her. It’s precisely her ability to see the world differently from the rest of us that makes her such an asset to Raphaëlle.
