The Unified National Leadership of the Uprising (UNLU;) is a coalition of the local Palestinian leadership. During the First Intifada it played an important role in mobilizing grassroots support for the uprising.
The Unified National Leadership of the Uprising (UNLU; Arabic: qiyādat al-intifāḍah al-waṭaniyyah al-muwaḥḥadah) was a clandestine Palestinian coalition that coordinated and directed the First Intifada, the mass uprising against Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip from December 1987 to 1993.
The Unified National Leadership of the Uprising (UNLU, al-qiyada al-muwahhada in Arabic) was the clandestine local Palestinian leadership in the occupied Palestinian territories during the First Intifada.
A member of the UNLU interviewed by The New York Times in early February 1988 stated on the UNLU's formation: "The important thing is that a grassroots infrastructure was already in existence. Unions, women's committees, every faction had its own infrastructure." [7]
