Message trace data is retained for 90 days by default. This retention period is not configurable. After 90 days, message trace data is automatically purged from the system. You can search for message data within this 90-day window using either the Exchange admin center (modern EAC) or Exchange Online PowerShell cmdlets like Get-MessageTraceV2 and Start-HistoricalSearch.
