Pretty Things packs a lot of story into what should be a straightforward revenge tale. Dual narrators—Vanessa and Nina—have the same effect on the many twists and reveals as a funhouse mirror, warping the reader’s ability to know who to root for, because both woman are likable.

Pretty Things is a slow burn suspense story with a few small twists along the way. I listened to the audiobook — My favorite, Julia Whelan, narrates Nina and Lauren Fortgang did a great job with Vanessa’s voice as well. The POV shifts between the two women throughout the book.
