Are PSAT scores already released to colleges, or in some way public, in the junior year? I ask because S27 just received an email from a college referencing his score and inviting him to review their National Merit Program, even though we’re months out from NMF’s official announcement.
Hey! Just wanted to create a discussion thread for the Class of 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program. I’m aware that it is a bit early in the game, but as the last round of PSAT scores will be released next week, I think it would be smart to have a head start!
Can anyone help me understand how adaptive testing PSAT works? I get the overall concept but I’m confused how scoring remains equitable if all the questions despite difficultly are worth the same. The way the adapting works, some students will end up taking a harder exam but the degree of difficulty is not factored into the score.
In the past, the NM cutoff was based on PSAT score. PSAT score gives double weighting to the math questions, so the math answers ended up contributing 1/2 of the PSAT score.
