PAME’s mission is to convene, educate and inspire all stakeholders – from the bereaved to those living with epilepsy, to health care professionals, advocates, clinical and basic scientists, and death investigators – to promote understanding and drive prevention of epilepsy-related mortality.
The PAME Conference convenes epilepsy researchers, health care providers, non-profit professionals, and people impacted by epilepsy, including the bereaved, to share knowledge and work together to prevent epilepsy mortality.
PAME began in 2012 as a multi-stakeholder conference focused on raising awareness and understanding of all forms of preventable epilepsy-related mortality, including; suicide, accidents, status epilepticus, and Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP).
PAME is committed to promoting understanding of epilepsy-related mortality and this includes promoting basic and clinical research, creating networking and collaboration opportunities, and identifying gaps in research that need to be addressed.

The Pame are an Indigenous people of central Mexico primarily living in the state of San Luis Potosí. The northern Pame refer to themselves as the Xi'iuy (alternate spelling: Xi'úi, Xi'ui, Xi'oi, or Xiyui), while the southern Pame (in Hidalgo) call themselves Ñáhu or Nyaxu, and the Pame of Querétaro call themselves Re Nuye Eyyä.
