The standard "gaming mice" are ridiculously expensive. I don't see why a corded mouse with a slightly higher than average sensor quality cannot overcome these problems that I am experiencing. I reiterate that I am not using this laptop to play any games, not even solitaire. I would be grateful for any tips, guidance and recommendations.

Keep the mouse and receiver at least 3 feet away from other wireless devices (cordless phones, cell phones, other wireless mice/keyboards) and at least 8 inches away from electrical devices. Avoid placing the mouse or receiver directly on metallic surfaces or near long metal objects or cables; keep about 3 feet distance from such objects.
Check if the mouse or pointers appear under Mice and other pointing devices. If you see the devices listed under hidden devices, try right-clicking on them and selecting Update driver to see if Windows can find a new driver.

After checking a few tutorials, I was directed to the Device Manager to update the "Mice and other pointing devices" driver (by using tab and alt keys). That's when I found that it was completely missing along with a few others. After a few tutorials and a long time trying to restore them, I found nothing.
