Long Division Polynomials

Maybe factor polynomials so you can find common roots. That way in the division you can eliminate all the common roots and in multiplication, you can identify increasing powers of roots. Otherwise, I'd recommend long division for polynomials and practice a bunch. With a lot of practice, it's quick. Multiplication, maybe collect like terms as you go along to make it quicker.

In long division, we have to pay attention to the entire divisor because multiples of the divisor can result in carries between the various digits (columns in the usual tableau for long division). There is no equivalent to carries when multiplying polynomials. There are no carries between columns in polynomial division, so the non-leading degree terms cannot alter the multiple of the divisor ...

2 I know how to do synthetic division and long division. However, I don't really see why I should bother remembering synthetic division since it can't be utilized in all scenarios. Hence my question is: What type of problems require the usage of synthetic division to find an answer that long division would not allow me to find?
