The Tailwind is always the best bang for the buck in a performance homebuilt. (Jim Rust's O-320 Tailwind, just about the best of the breed, embarrasses RV-4's, 6's and 7's on a daily basis) Continental C-85 with electric start, 3 blade propeller. Well, once you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail. How about a plane, something like a Wittman Tailwind. The idea would be to build the whole thing from CNC routered plywood. The pieces would fit together tab A slot B style. The corners would come out looking like a box joint with interleaved fingers about 1" long.
