I believe it's even recommended in the IFSTA training manuals to kill the headlights when you're on scene. I know that some ambulances are now made with switches to dim the strobes and LED warning lights at night.
Fundamentals of Firefighter Skills We are currently using a combination of the IFSTA Essentials 4th Edition, plus some very old BC produced training videos. We need to upgrade at least the video portion, and I'm looking to retire our old overhead slides in favour of some powerpoints as well.
Anyone know a good site to buy books, ifsta books? Is Amazon the best place? Wanting to purchase a driver/operator book. The red ifsta one. I think they have 2nd edition out now. Anyways, i went through the academy Sept-Dec 08, and i enjoyed every bit of it. Although i heard they finally upgraded to the new IFSTA book which added like another 200 pages. did treasure island stop their vol program? also, I thought the "new" ifsta book didn't change anything except add first responder material.

The test questions are based on parts of the IFSTA Essentials, dept. and county SOP's, and knowledge of the local streets and roads. The tests, scenario, and interview are done with officers from other depts. and a resident active in local affairs.
