Consew Manual 226r

Upon further research, the Consew 226R-2 seems to be more like the Singer 111W156 than the 111W155 as the 226R and the 111W156 have reverse. The Consew seems to have a 5-24 stitch per inch range. The only manuals I've been able to find are Singer PDFs with blurry pictures that are pretty tough to see any detail in.

Consew 226 series came in three different frame castings. First one used, what I'll call the 'old style' reverse system. This is the original 226, that didn't have the "R" (Consew uses R = Reverse, NOT Seiko). After that, they did in fact have an "R" for all 226 models that followed, 226R, and 226R-1, & 226R-2.

First, the Consew model you have is a mini-walking foot machine with top and bottom feed..It is similar to the Sailrite mini-walkers that are used in boat upholstery and sail repairs. Second, Your combination of needle and thread is mismatched. Number 69 (aka: T70) thread calls for a #18 needle. Number 92 thread calls for a #19 needle.

Consew Manual 226r 5

As far as I have seen the Consew 220 is a single flat foot, straight stitch garment machine. It is an old model, lacking reverse. It may sew 1/4" of soft leather, like chap or vest leather, if you install a roller foot, or teflon foot. It is most likely limited to using #69 thread maximum. You would probably have to change the motor pulley to a 2" diameter to be able to sew on leather. A ...
