I’m not a blacksmith … but I wonder if the higher oxygen atmosphere in the induction forge presents a problem with more material loss due to oxidation of the surface? I've been kinda paying attention to this, and I'm not sure there's more (oxygen or scale formation).
They also used to make a line of blacksmith's anvils (pretty pricey, though), and various blacksmithing tools. I say used to because I haven't been in contact with them for several years, but they probably still make all the stuff.
At the very least, go look at commercially available blacksmith presses and look at those specs. then do the math on them to give yourself a starting point. go back and read all the past press threads in shop talk, and the shoptalk archive. Keeping a press "fairly cheap" is still $2,000

This campus had a replica of James Black s blacksmith shop where during the winter of 1830-1831 James Bowie purchased a knife from Black. This hammer-in, named the Piney Woods Hammer-In, still occurs semi annually.
