MINISTRY OF LAW AND JUSTICE (Legislative Department) New Delhi, the 25th December, 2023/Pausha 4, 1945 (Saka) The following Act of Parliament received the assent of the President on the 25th December, 2023 and is hereby published for general information:— THE BHARATIYA NYAYA SANHITA, 2023
Section 1. Short title, commencement and application. Previous Next (1) This Act may be called the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. (2) It shall come into force on such date 1 as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint, and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Sanhita.
- Trial of offences under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and other laws.—(1) All offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 shall be investigated, inquired into, tried, and otherwise dealt with according to the provisions hereinafter contained. in
(2) Words and expressions used herein and not defined but defined in the Information Technology Act, 2000 (21 of 2000), the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 shall have the same meanings as assigned to them in the said Act and Sanhitas.
